I mentioned this player while reviewing Lyric Grabber and well, I’m returning now to have a close look at it because my wife is looking for a decent player. I am looking into this player first because of it’s high rating on the play store and that I’ve tried it before briefly and since it was already in my list of apps to look at I thought why not.

What does the App claim it can do?

The author claims that it is the #1 music lyric player on the market. Other claims include that it is good for karaoke and that it has the largest and most exhaustive collection of lyrics that sync with the song as it plays. The authors Alsop say that it can work as a scrobbler for almost every other music player and radio. Some of the major features include a graphic equalizer, support for Android Wear, Spotify, Deezer, rdio, Rhapsody and Play Music. The App can cast music to your TV using Chromecast or straight to LG Smart TVs.

Does the App REALLY do what it claims to do?

Well, let’s see, it plays music, it shows the lyrics and is that it has an equaliser. There’s lots of other features that a simple user like me cannot check like the claim that it has the largest collection of sync lyrics and that it supports Android Wear. The equaliser has 5 bands and has a nice selection of pre-sets, though it lacks a preamp slider which can be useful. You can make and save your own equaliser setting too which is s=nice to know. If there’s a song that has the sync data then as the song plays the current line of the song is displayed on the screen and lock screen so you can sing along when the screen is locked as well. I’ve noticed that you need to log into the website if you are playing a song that isn’t in the database.

What do I like most about the App?

I really like the scrolling lyrics, it makes karaoke that much easier to do.

What’s not to like about it?

There’s no way to limit the media that you see in the music list, you get all the audio files on the device. In this day and age you should have the option to eliminate folders and not get bombarded with so much spam

What are the little niggles (What would make it perfect)?

Preamp, a preamp slider of the equaliser would be awesome.

Why did I decide to keep/remove it?

If you are after a music player that has scrolling lyrics then this is a fine app. I don’t need scrolling lyrics and I already use an awesome player… Poweramp

Would my wife use it?

I think the interface is simple enough for my wife to use, she’s already looking for one. She might use it but I think I’ll keep looking for a player that ticks more boxes since syncing lyrics isn’t top of the list of needed functions.
